Governor Brian Kemp has appointed Twin City Vice President Matt Donaldson to the Georgia Board of Education to represent the 12th Congressional District. The 12th Congressional District includes the counties of Appling, Bulloch, Burke, Candler, Coffee, Columbia, Effingham, Emanuel, Evans, Jeff Davis, Jenkins, Laurens, Montgomery, Richmond, Screven, Tattnall, Toombs, Truetlen, and Wheeler. The Georgia Board of Education oversees public education throughout the state. The Board ensures laws and regulations pertaining to education are followed, and that state and federal money appropriated for education is properly allocated to local school systems.
Donaldson was sworn in by Governor Brian Kemp on January 12, 2021 at a ceremony at the Georgia Capitol.
